The Apple Watch Series 8, which was unveiled in September 2022, is the most recent model of the wearable device that was first released in 2015. It replaces the Apple Watch Series 7.

The Apple Watch Series 8 has all the same features and functionality as the previous generation model, with no design changes. The 41mm and 45mm size options are still available, and the casings have the same rounded corners, small display borders, sapphire crystal backing, and a haptic Digital Crown.

To learn more about its features, read the article below.

1. Performance

The 2020 Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch Series 8 share the same processor. The S8 has the same CPU power while having a different name. This is not the first time Apple has taken such a step.

With the Apple Watch Series 5, the S5 chip brought a built-in Compass feature along with the same performance as the S4 SoC.

The S8 SiP has a 64-bit dual-core processor and includes 32GB of storage. It is 20% quicker than the Apple Watch SE’s initial CPU and is comparable to the S6 chip.

2. Colours and finishes

Only two materials—aluminium and stainless steel—and a variety of colours—are offered for the Apple Watch Series 8.

The stainless steel Series 8 is available in Silver, Gold, and Graphite, while the aluminium Series 8 will come in Midnight, Starlight, Silver, and PRODUCT(RED).

3. Design

Even with the Apple Watch Ultra, the flat-edged design that had been predicted for the new Apple Watch never materialized. The rounded edges that Apple Watch owners are accustomed to were kept in the Watch Series 8.

And we’d be lying if we thought the Series 8’s design is in any way particularly fascinating.

It’s essentially the same as the most recent models, and while we don’t necessarily have anything against the 6 or 7, we believe the most recent iteration would have been a great opportunity to introduce a more distinctive design, especially given that the new SE and Ultra share a lot of similarities. Delayed design success!

4. Body temperature sensor

The new body temperature sensor, which allows for “additional insights into women’s health,” is one of the Apple Watch Series 8’s most significant additions, according to Apple.

The use of two sensors lessens bias resulting from both the environment outside and the body itself. Users can get retroactive ovlution estimates with the new features.

For users who menstruate, temperature sensing also offers better period forecasts. Users of watchOS 9’s Cycle Tracking feature will now be notified if their logged cycle history indicates a potential departure.

5. Battery Life

Using the updated low-power mode, you can obtain up to 36 hours of battery life while using your iPhone.

There are still some restrictions that the new low-power mode will place on you even though you can do far more with it than you can with the Apple Watch Series 7 right now. Select sensors and functionalities, including the Always-On display and heart health messages, will be disabled and/or restricted in use.

Thanks to watchOS 9, this new low-power mode is also coming to other Apple Watch models starting with the Series 4.
